Can reviews be added?

Not by everyone, only moderators. We hope to expand the number of moderators in the future.

What's the point of becoming a member of xianworldview.com?

1. You get to create your own user profile to share with other members.
2. You can post to the forums.
3. You can have your own list of recommended books from the books currently reviewed.

Those are the main ones right now. We hope to get things running a little better in the near future, ie. make forums usable.

While we aren't allowing users to create reviews we will allow them to comment on the books already reviewed in the future.

Why "xian"?

Second I thought Xian sounded exotic and somewhat SciFi.

Since picking the name a number of Christians have expressed disfavor of the name because they either consider it a cop out, meaning I don't want to say the word Christ, or because xian is used as a derogatory term by those that hate the faith.

Others have pointed out that there are very good reasons to use the term. Here are some of them

"Xian" is an abbreviation of "Christian" -- the "X" comes from the Greek letter chi (the first letter of _christos_, from which we get "Christ" in English), which looks very much like an X. It's the same origin as "Xmas" for "Christmas."

Another person pointed out that in Chinese Xian means "first", which make us "first worldview".

After contemplation and prayer I¹ve decided to stay with the name xianworldview.

Non-Christian

Are you going to try and convert me?

No and maybe. XWV as a web site is not going to try and convert you to the Christian faith. But members of XWV on a one and one basis may discuss Christianity with you if the subject comes up. We will allow people to talk about most subjects as long as they are polite and the subject is not obscene. This means someone could get into a discussion of the Christian faith as an off shoot of a forum discussion and we would allow it.
